Carter Shilts

Carter Shilts is a mandolinist from Madison, Wisconsin. His Northfield 4th Gen F5, “Orange Blossom,” can be heard on recording projects such as The Honeygoats’ LP Four Years in Three Days and Chicken Wire Empire’s Verry Garcia EP. Shilts joined Milwaukee bluegrass-based band Chicken Wire Empire 2021 and has toured extensively with the group since then. He’s also toured internationally with folk singer Trapper Schoepp. In 2019, Shilts was selected for the Acoustic Music Seminar, a rigorous music education program led by Mike Marshall, Bryan Sutton, Darrell Scott, and others as part of the Savanah Music Festival.
